What’s Edible in the Forest?

This foraging “walk in the woods” is led by author Vickie Shufer, author of The Forager’s Handbook and The Everything Guide to Foraging. Vickie, a naturalist and herbalist, will take guests on a magical tour of a mature upland forest with native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers. Leaves will be changing colors, fall fruits ripening, and mosses and ferns popping out at every corner. Find out what is and what is not edible, and learn about the role these native plants play in our daily lives.

This is a public tour. It is also available as a private customizable group tour for up to 16 people. Email info@TheNatureBus.com to arrange.

(Rain date is Sunday, Sept 29) Before purchasing your ticket, be sure you can go on the actual tour date and the rain date. This rain date is an alternate tour date, reserved for “severe” weather and lightning.  The trip ordinarily goes rain or shine. We provide umbrellas.

Join us for and educational and rejuvenating expedition, and let the secrets of the woods unfold before our eyes. Embrace the beauty of the outdoors while gaining valuable insights inot the wonders that lie within our own backyard. The walk will begin and end at the historical Whitehurst-Buffington House (built in 1793), where we will have native American tea and refreshments before going ona tour of the house.
