Flowers aren’t the only things that start to bloom in April. The warming weather coaxes the local residents and early bird tourists out of their cozy, comfy homes and into the brisk refreshing spring air. April starts the year off right because there is something fun to do virtually every single weekend. Check out what events are happening this month!

Walk the Beach

Happening whenever!

April is the beginning of perfect weather to take a stroll on the beach. With temperatures in the highs of 60s and 70s, you can’t dream of better weather for walking the beach.

Another reason April is perfect for walking the beach is that it’s typically not a busy month for the oceanfront in Virginia Beach. An uncrowded beach always feels extra peaceful and a little more special.

And if you’re really interested in how walking at the beach differs from walking in the city, check out this article! It explains how salty ocean air is beneficial to our health.

“Sea air is full of negative hydrogen ions which, by neutralising damaging free radicals, improve our ability to absorb oxygen. They can also balance levels of serotonin – the hormone that makes us feel happy – meaning we will become more relaxed and less prone to anxiety.”

Walk the Dog on the Beach

Happening whenever!

Virginia Beach has some rules and restrictions on when dogs are allowed to visit the boardwalk and oceanfront. April is one of the months that dogs are allowed on the beach and boardwalk.

The general rule of thumb of dogs visiting the beach:

“The Dog Policy of Virginia Beach specifiies dogs are permitted on the beach and boardwalk before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.”
