If you think Virginia Beach should only be visited in spring, summer, and fall, we urge you to reconsider! Continue reading and you will find that there are so many things to do in Virginia Beach in February!
Yes, it’s cold.
Yes, it’s windy on the beach.
Yes, we certainly do not recommend swimming in the ocean in February… Unless you are participating in the Polar Plunge. Brrrr!
But there’s still plenty to do in Virginia Beach in winter, especially in February. And an added benefit: no matter what fun or romantic or interesting thing you do in Virginia Beach during your February visit, you’ll definitely see fewer crowds!
Take a look below for seven things to do in Virginia Beach in February!
1. Pamper Yourself and Your Valentine
Perhaps the most romantic thing you can do here in February is to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your special someone. Many hotels, bed and breakfasts and hotels have Valentine’s Day specials, helping you save money on a lovely room, a terrific dinner, and even champagne, chocolates, and roses for your beloved. Consider adding a couple’s massage, or special manicure/pedicure and a massage.
2. Coastal Virginia Wine Fest
The Coastal Virginia Wine Festival will be located at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Time and Dates
Saturday, February 6th: 12 noon – 6 pm
Sunday, February 7th: 12 noon – 5 pm
The Coastal Virginia Wine Fest is the best way to get together with friends and sip the most delicious wines from the area. Many local vendors will be present.
The various vendors here will be serving foods, displaying and selling arts and crafts. You can also learn the art of grape stomping! It’s just what every wine lover should know!

3. Let Virginia Beach Cook for You
For a week in February, a whole list of Virginia Beach restaurants will be having great specials on their food, thanks to the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week! Starting on January 31, over 25 locally owned restaurants will be treating customers to amazingly low priced foods.
Enjoy special restaurant deals from places like:
Coastal Grille, Cobalt Grille, Bakers Crust Artisan Kitchen, Tupelo Honey, Terrapin Restaurant, 1608 Crafthouse, No Frill Bar and Grill, and more! Click here for more info on the VA Beach Restaurant Week.
4. Break Out the Binoculars for Whale Sightings
Humans may not like the cold waters, but whales sure do! Whales are fairly easy to spot during the winter months in Virginia Beach. This is a fun activity that the whole family will like, especially if you do spot one! Read more about whales watching here.
5. Find Your New Favorite Wine
The region surrounding Virginia Beach is surrounded by several wineries. Book a private wine tasting experience at one or more of them and enjoy taste testing some of the region’s finest whites, red, merlots, cabernets, and more.
6. Stroll the Virginia Beach Boardwalk
Bundle up and walk the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Yes, many shops and restaurants will be closed. But several will be open. Besides, being able to walk the Boardwalk without crowds is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list!
7. Summer Dreamin’ on the Beach
While you’re at the Boardwalk, venture on to the beach itself. (We recommend a day that isn’t too windy – blowing sand can sting!) Listening to the lap of the waves along the shore and the call of the shorebirds is one of the most relaxing activities anyone can do any time of the year.
