September is a great month to visit Virginia Beach for many reasons. Although it is thought that August is the last month of a beach season, we find that it’s not the case here in this beach city. 1. American Music Festival
This popular festival brings tons of nationally recognized performers to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront! This year’s festival kicks off September 2nd, Friday, with reggae rock band 311! The American Music Festival is a whole weekend-long event packed with musical performances. There is something for everyone to enjoy at this Virginia Beach event. September 3rd, Saturday, will feature UB40. UB40 is known for their ever-popular hit, Red Red Wine. Come on this day for your chance to hear it live! Sunday, the last day of the music festival, you will see Culture Club and The Romantics.

2. Rock and Roll ½ Marathon
The annual Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon & Fitness Expo strikes again at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. This event venue will be located at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Like the American Music Festival, this Rock and Roll event will last a whole weekend. September 2nd through the 4th is when Rock and Roll ½ Marathon begins and ends. This event is more than just running! Be able to enjoy a health and fitness expo to learn new tips to keep your body in tip-top shape. 3. RUFIT Fitness Expo
September seems to be packed with fitness! The RUFIT Fitness Expo will take place right on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with tons of fitness buffs. If you love working out and maintaining your body to a high degree, this is the perfect event for you! Combining the beautiful beach AND an intense workout? Sounds like a dream come true to fitness enthusiasts. RUFIT Fitness Expo will show you the ropes of great nutrition and also how to get the most in your workout. Challenge yourself and participate in many of their competitions. Are you the fittest? You can earn prizes if so! This event kicks off September 16th and will last until September 18th at the 24th Street Park.

4. Take A Dip In The Ocean

5. Virginia Beach Pet Expo

At this pet expo held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, there will be an array of booths set up dedicated to sharing information about our pets. Learn what’s best for your dog, find great training tips, have a Q&A session with a vet, and find new toys to bring home to your best friend. You don’t have to leave your pets at home for this fun event. Show them off and dress them up in the cutest costume for a chance to win the costume contest! Don’t have a pet, but want one? Come to this pet expo for a chance to adopt and show an animal a new loving life. This two day Virginia Beach Pet Expo will begin September 24th and end on September 25th.

6. 43rd Annual Neptune Festival
Last but certainly not least, the 43rd Annual Neptune Festival will take place at the end of the month. This is exciting news for all the people who missed last year’s Neptune Festival which was cancelled due to inclimate weather. This year is the time to make up for all the fun that was lost! Come to this popular event for craft shows, countless unique vendors, good food, live music, delicious drinks, running races, volleyball games, and much more. Can you guess where this event will take place? 31st Street’s very own King Neptune Statue, of course!
