Virginia Beach Stand Up Paddleboarding is something we really recommend while you are vacationing here. Normally, this would scare the you-know-what out of me (I’m not the greatest of swimmers) but I decided to throw caution into the ocean.

I’m so glad I did.

Whether you’re a “water baby” (Rachel – the lovely model in the picture above) or aquatically challenged (me), you’ll find Virginia Beach Stand Up Paddleboarding to be extremely exciting, fun, challenging and one heck-of-a workout.

The owner was an incredibly charismatic guy who would literally give you the hat off his head. Since Rachel forgot to bring one, he literally did just that. The hat you see in the picture of Rachel is literally his.

The first thing we did, as a group, was learn the ropes. This included how to launch (on your knees), how to efficiently paddle, how to turn and how to get back on the board if you fall off. Let me take this opportunity to say that everyone from our group stayed dry. Nobody fell into the water (especially me).

After the quick instruction, we individually mounted our boards and paddled around. After getting a feel for it, everyone stood up.

Now the real fun began.

We paddled around to get our sea legs. After finding our balance, we headed out for some exploration. The sights, the smells, the wildlife, the waves were all incredible. Our guide stayed close and helped everyone. He also took some great pictures that were later uploaded to Facebook.

Rachel and I had a fantastic time and the rest of our group did as well. This is an activity we can highly recommend for anyone coming to Virginia Beach.
