For more than 30 years, the Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market has been providing fresh, local produce to Virginia Beach locals and visitors alike. The market, located on the corner of Dam Neck and Princess Anne Roads across from the Landstown Shopping Center, is open year-round. It features a variety of agriculturally-focused vendors selling everything from flowers and fresh vegetables to candy and home and garden gifts.

Vendors at the market include:
• an organic grocery
• a butcher shop
• a seafood market
• a florist
• a candy store
• a bakery
• a restaurant featuring a full menu
• a dairy featuring ice cream
• a wild bird store
• various home and garden gift stores

The Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market is especially unique because it provides visitors with the opportunity to participate in educational tours related to the history of agriculture in Virginia. A variety of tours are offered at the market. Young children can enjoy the “Fun on the Farm” tour, which gives them the chance to learn about farm life and agriculture in historic Virginia through hands on activities. Adults will enjoy the “Taste of the Market” tour, which provides many opportunities for sampling products sold at the market, and the “From Farm to Table” tour, where guests learn about the farming that goes on behind the scenes to produce many of the products offered at the market.

Throughout the year, a variety of events are also held at the farmer’s market – including a couple of exciting events in the fall. The Apple Extravaganza and Craft Show includes live cooking demonstrations and an apple pie eating contest, and offers guests the opportunity to get an early start on their holiday shopping. The annual Harvest Fair, which takes place in October, features arts and crafts, contests and live music, as well as pony rides, inflatables, informational displays, and more. Guests can enjoy live bluegrass and country music on Friday nights at the market from April until October.

There is truly something for everyone to enjoy at the Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market! If you’re in the area, it’s an attraction not to be missed.
