The beach is packed full of exciting events during the summer months. Read below for a list of 7 exciting ways to spend time in Virginia Beach in July.
1. Watch Fireworks for the Fourth of July
This year, the Fourth of July will land on a Wednesday. There will be two fun ways to celebrate the Fourth at the beach! The Stars and Stripes Explosion is a popular Fourth of July event that includes live music and of course, fireworks. This event is free.
Check out the live performances of Stars and Stripes Explosion at the following stages on the boardwalk:
- On the beach at 24th Street
- Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 17th Street Park
- 31st Street Park
If you want to celebrate the Fourth away from the boardwalk, you can visit Mount Trashmore Park which is just right up the road. Bring a blanket to layout and watch the fireworks on top of Mount Trashmore. There will be live music here as well as delicious food! This Fourth of July Celebration at Mount Trashmore Park starts at 4:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm. This event is $10.
2. Chalk the Walk Artsplosion
This beautiful Virginia Beach event invites you to check out popping art that is located right under your nose! Watch talented artists display works of art right onto the Boardwalk. This popular spectacle will have themes that are sure to excite the whole family! In the past there have been skilled drawings with themes of Harry Potter, Disney characters, familiar TV characters, and more!
Be sure to check out Chalk the Walk Artsplosion on the Boardwalk at 16th Street through 18th Street on Saturday, July 6th.
3. Hot Concerts All Month Long
This July, Virginia Beach will host so many musical performances!

4. Movie Night
Friday, July 12 starting at 6 pm, you’re invited to bring your blanket and beach chair to watch a family-friendly movie at Red Wing Park! Grab your favorite snack at the available concession stand at the park, get comfortable, and get ready to watch Homeward Bound.
Rain date for this family movie screening is July 13.
5. Treasures Of The Earth: Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show
If you love all things unique and beautiful, you want to be at this event! This weekend long event will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. You will see items here that you have never seen before! This event is family-friendly. There will even be fossils to take a look at. The items that you will see here range from interesting pieces to highly expensive gems! It starts on Friday, July 19th at noon and ends on Sunday, July 21st at 5:00 PM. You don’t want to miss this event because they won’t be back until October. Feast your eyes on the Treasures Of The Earth during this rare experience! Tickets are only $5.
6. Captain Jack’s Pirate Adventures
Captain Jack’s Pirate Ship has so much to offer! Scoot around the ocean like a pirate on the ship known as The Lost Pearl! Set sail on one of their Family Friendly Adventures or a Club 21+ Cruise.
