Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays to celebrate, even though most of us do little things for special people in our life every day. Valentine’s Day is a dedicated day for showing our loved ones just how much they are appreciated. Some people choose to make their day and night super special and others opt for a more casual and laid-back holiday. No matter which way you spend your Valentine’s Day, we’ve got the perfect ideas on how to spend them! Check out the top things to do in Virginia Beach this year for the love of your life.

Pack a Picnic for the Beach

This is one of the favorite things to do amongst tourists and locals for a couple of reasons. For both tourists and locals, a picnic on the beach is easy and effortless! All you have to do is round up some favorite foods, place in a cooler, pack a blanket, and set out to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Not only is it easy and effortless, it’s not expensive like a fancy dinner out on the town. Do plan to bring a coat as the weather for this coming Valentine’s Day appears to be around 50 degrees with sunshine!

Fondue for Two

No Valentine’s Day is complete without sweets! And, we’re talking chocolates. We previously mentioned a picnic on the beach, so why not pack some chocolates or chocolate covered strawberries in the picnic basket? Chocolates and chocolate-covered strawberries are the most popular treats to buy your sweetheart. In Virginia Beach, we suggest you visit the Royal Chocolate for a delicious experience. The Royal Chocolate is Hampton Roads Premiere Chocolate Shop.

Stay away from the chocolates that have been wrapped in plastic for months and months and treat yourself and your Valentine to The Royal Chocolate for fresh gourmet sweets!

A chocolate fondue is served for every 2 people attending this event. Choose Belgian milk, dark or white chocolate, and 4 items from the menu, including such items as fresh strawberries, apples, cake, pretzels and more. Each person attending receives their choice of beverage. A special gift box of truffles per couple is also included with this event.

$16 per person / $32 per couple.

You’ll find this one of a kind chocolate shop in the Town Center of Virginia Beach, located at 164 Central Park Avenue.

Don’t Forget the Flowers

There are very few women I know that tell their husbands or boyfriends, “please, don’t buy me flowers.” As a woman myself, I always look forward to being sent a beautiful boquet on Valentine’s Day. With that being said, this is definitely a MUST unless specified otherwise by your significant other! A trusty website that is great for choosing flowers is FTD Flowers. We love FTD flowers because they deliver the same day as you order, and they always provide fresh, gorgeous flowers. You order online, pay, and wait for your Valentine to be greeted with a stunning boquet.

Total Pampering at the Spa

Chances are, your lady works pretty darn hard throughout the week. Don’t you think she needs R&R? What better way to indulge in total relaxation than a day at the spa! One of the favorite spas in Virginia Beach is the Founders Inn and Spa. At this elegant spa, you’ll find bountiful selection of services that are offered. Pedicures, manicures, hair stylings, massages, facials, and even more are just some of what you can choose at this VA Beach day spa.

Casual Dinner Date

Going out to eat really is a luxury. Not having to cook is a wonderful thing when you want to sit back and relax with your date! Our favorite casual dinner date restaurant pick is 3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant. To tell you the truth, I didn’t even care for Mexican meals at all until I ate at 3 Amigos. This Virginia Beach restaurant is locally owned, family operated, and completely authentic! To me, I think that’s what really sets it apart from other Mexican foods in the area. The fact that it’s truly authentic makes the food off-the-charts delicious. One day I visited 3 Amigos, I overheard two different men mention that this Mexican restaurant was the best food they’ve ever had, and they wished they had known about 3 Amigos sooner! So, for these reasons, this is our top pick for a casual dinner date to bring your Valentine’s Day date.

Fancy Dinner Date

Another top pick for things to do in Virginia Beach includes eating dinner at Catch 31 Seafood Restaurant. Many tourists know exactly where this restaurant is located. They have the best location in probably the whole Virginia Beach area. You’ll find Catch 31 directly in front of the King Neptune Statue at VA Beach Boardwalk. Eating at Catch 31 is as beautiful as it is appetizing. Views of the waves breaking on the shore are seen right from the dining area in this restaurant. You can even reserve a table outside that is warmed by the outdoor firepits. One of our favorite things about the decor outside is that they have lights wrapped around the palm trees! Their seafood, cocktails, and desserts are all to die for.

Scenic Dinner Date

If you’re looking to really wow your Valentine’s Day date, bring her or him to the Virginia Aquarium for their Valentine’s Dinner! This special Virginia Beach event will feature a six course meal, an open bar, champagne toast, flowers and chocolate, and a keepsake photograph to remember the night. Best of all, you’ll be dining with the coolest view in town. Dine under the turtles or sharks! You can’t beat this special date night experience. Click here for all the details .
