Join the waitlist here ( https://www.eventbrite.com/e/interwoven-shaping-a-warriors-home-tickets-966399806837?aff=ebdssbcitybrowse ).\n\nInterwoven: Shaping a Warrior’s Home\nSpecial Operations Forces Families are invited to join The Station Foundation for a curated program to enhance quality conversation, cultivate deeper connection, and teach character strengths through The Station’s first Family Book Club. Participating families will read and discuss a daily chapter of Chop Wood, Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf for a month. Chop Wood, Carry Water is a powerful story about the lessons and wisdom learned through a boy’s journey to achieve his lifelong goal of becoming a samurai warrior. Together, families will learn:\n\nHow the process of achieving greatness involves persistence and hard work\nThe importance of gratitude\nWhy the process is more important than the goal\nWhy comparison is the thief of all joy\nHow to develop mental toughness\n\n\nImpactful curriculum, written by The Station staff, will guide families with meaningful questions and discussion prompts. This program has been specifically written to support the busy lives of SOF families; therefore, we ask families to dedicate 15 minutes a day to complete a daily reading and discussion assignment.\nFamilies who complete the Book Club assignments will celebrate their accomplishment together at “Glow in the Park” at the Virginia Adventure Park on Saturday, October 12. Families will climb their favorite ziplines and climb from tree to tree on high ropes covered in fairy lights and multi-colored LED lights!\nThursday, September 12, 2024\n5:45-8:00 PM Family Book Club Dinner and Game Night (Great Neck Pavillion)\nThursday, September 26, 2024\n7:00-8:00 PM Ice Cream Social and Check In Discussion (Be Free Craft Ice Cream)\nSaturday, October 12, 2024\n6:00-8:00 PM Family Book Club Celebration: Glow in the Park Virginia Beach Adventure Park\nEvent Details:\n\nChildren of all ages are welcome; however, the reading content is most suitable for children ages 8+.\nGlow in the Park Virginia Beach Adventure Park age requirement is 5 years old. Children under 5 years old are not permitted to participate.\nRegistration for this program requires families to commit to reading and discussing a chapter of Chop Wood, Carry Water daily.\nParticipants are expected to attend all three events.\nA copy of Chop Wood, Carry Water and the discussion guide will be provided for each family.\nWe kindly request a cancellation notice no less than 72 hours prior to the event.
